About Us

Járnsmíði sf is a contracting company that was founded in 1987 by Ómar Óskarsson and Skúla Sigurðsson and has handled various projects such as power plants, ship repairs, steel frame buildings, air terminals, large industrial plants, electrical substations, oil and heat pipelines, maintenance works as well as various other metal construction projects.

Járnsmíði has carried out many large projects, such as the expansion of Keflavík international airport, steel fram work for Norðurál, expansions of Ísal, work at Búðarháls hydropower plant, construction of two schools and several new buildings at the harbor in Nuuk Greenland, as well as many others.

The company has primarily been a subcontractor, but has also been a main contractor on several projects. Járnsmíði has gained a reputation for hard work, resourcefulness and professional work methods.

The company has also been importing quality products since 1989. We import products from around the world, mainly aluminium, steel and balcony railings.
